Monkies and Crocs

Yeah!  It's Monday, which means Monkey See Monkey Do!

I was inspired by Ameerah at Valiantly Varnished HERE.  Check out her fashion inspired mani.

When I started nail art, the crackle craze was pretty much over, which was fine with me.  But then I saw Barry M's Croc Effect and I started hunting the web for this unusual crackle.  When it was stocked at NINJA POLISH I ran to the site to snatch it up.  The most interesting thing about this polish is that it crackles both horizontally and vertically.  I am still working on perfecting the application, so expect to see this reptile again.

 This started with two coats of Etoile Midnight Kiss.

 Have you heard of Etoile?  This luxury polish is infused with diamond dust!  At $18 a pop this is not a polish I could usually afford, however Haute had them for half price so I snatched up three different colors.  Etoile describes this as a soft mauve, but really it is a soft pink.  I mean really, do you see mauve here?  It is filled with a pretty diamond shimmer.  This causes a bit of mannequin hands on me, but the shimmer and the art save me from that.

When the final coat of Midnight Kiss was dry to the touch, I added one stripe of Croc Effects down the middle of the nail.  I think I added too thick a coat because the crackle wasn't as pronounced as I have seen it in other swatches.  Still, I like it.  Finally I added some silver Born Pretty studs.

By the way...do you notice the improvement in my pics?  I have my beloved camera working again!  It makes me want to do a happy dance!  And add more exclamation marks!!!!
