Barielle Spring 2014 Vibrants

I have some Barielle swatches for you today....So I guess it is Serious Swatchin' Sunday instead of Saturday.  This is the second half of their Spring releases.  If you missed the first half, Velvets, you can find them HERE.  This set is called Vibrants.  It is a collection filled with cremes, some of them winners and some of them not.  Let's start with the not.

Barielle Money Talks - 3 coats + Top coat
Money Talks looks so purdy in the bottle, a soft pastel mint green.  The formula was not good though.  This is the first Barielle that I have tried that has a difficult formula.  It was thick and did not self level AT ALL.  I have added some polish thinner to see if that helps and will let you know when I test it again.  But during this swatch fest, I just added some Seche Vite to smooth it all out.  Seche covers a multitude of sins, and it certainly leveled it out, but it also did something else....it changed the color.  Here is an example before top coat and after top coat.

Index and pinkie is shown without top coat.  See all the ridges in the formula?  Those are not nail ridges, but brush strokes.  The middle and ring have top coat.  See how those look greener?  It was much more pronounced IRL.  And then it struck me that it reminded me of the China Glaze Transitions.  The difference with top coat and without is not as striking, but top coat definitely changes it.  I did a test to see if it was just the Seche Vite that caused the change, but nope, all the top coats I tested (SV, OPI Top Coat, OPI Natural Nail Top Coat and Cult Nails Wicked Fast) changed the color, with OPI Natural Nail changing it the least and all the others pretty much the same amount.  Right now, without knowing how the thinner changes the formula, I wouldn't recommend this shade.  I am reserving my full judgement until I try it again.

Barielle First Class Ticket - 2 coats + top coat
First Class Ticket is not well represented in my pics.  Blues freak my camera out!  It is not as bright, more of a dusty pastel blue.  The formula on this was MUCH better than Money Talks, but still a little thick.  This time I added top coat to see what would happen, not to hide any flaws.

As you can see, I am kinda sloppy with the top coat.....Wait, no, what I meant to say is that the top coat dramatically changed the color on this one :)  Again, not color accurate, but you get the picture.

ON TO THE GOOD, BETTER, BEST!

Color Adjusted

Barielle Designer's Shoe - 2 coats + top coat
Obviously I color adjusted this one.  It is a lovely greyed pastel blue leaning lilac color, but was photographing purely blue. Since it was almost indistinguishable from First Class Ticket in my pics, I went ahead and preformed some Photoshop magic.  I have the skills and software to change the tone of just the polish and not everything else, but it is time consuming, and "Ain't nobody got time for that!".

I was concerned that the top coat would change this one.  Luckily not, because I really love this shade!  Again, the formula was a tad thick, but add some thinner if that is a problem for you.  It isn't for me because thick formulas mean the possibility of using it for stamping!

Barielle My City Apartment - 2 coats + top coat
I was so worried that this would be another one that changed with top coat.  Thank goodness it didn't because this is the grey I have been searching for!  I have so many greys in my stash, but all of the cremes are too dark.  As Goldilocks would say, this one is just right!  Is there such a thing as a pastel grey?  If there is, then this is it.  I can see this as a great base for nail art, or maybe as a gradient with one of those darker greys!

Barielle Fire Me Up - 3 coats
Now we get to what I think of as vibrant!  This color was so bright, it again freaked my camera out.  Yes, it is a BRIGHT orange, but it leans PINK...or CORAL (?), which is unlike any orange in my stash or that I have seen before.  Neon coral orange?  Yes please!  Oh, and the formula is reminiscent of a jellie, but with the coverage of a creme.  In other words a crellie.   I used three coats for the DMP, but could have used two for IRL.  <3 this!

Barielle Take Me Shopping - 3 coats
Of course, I saved my favorite for last.  And once again, a camera freaker.  This collection and my camera just did not get along well together!  Imagine the bottom pic (color) as bright as the flash pic.  I would classify this one as a NEON coral.  The formula was the same as Fire Me Up, well pigmented and squishy.  This color makes me HAPPY!  With this on my tips, I could face almost any day!  Another winner from Barielle!.

Which of these are your favorite?  How do you feel about the fact that some are changed with top coat?  Would it keep you from being interested or peak your interest?  Let me know your thoughts!  Thanks again for visiting!
