Day 5 of Crumpets 31 DC - Purple

So day 5 is purple.  I decided to do a tape mani, which I have never done before.  I started with a couple of new additions to my stash.  The first is a HITS I got from one of my favorite polish procurers, LLAROWEThey have a great selection of, not only indie labels, but also polishes from all over the world.  I love adding hard to acquire brands to my stash, so they are a perfect fit.  The second is one of the new Liquid Sands from OPI.  Let's see how it turned out.

I don't know why, but the tone on this kept pulling blue in the pics, especially the OPI.  It is much more purple IRL.  Here's how I did it.

I started with two coats of HITS Dionisio, a Brazilian brand.  This is a lovely purple linear holo.  It is the best purple holo I have found so far.  It applied smoothly, no streaking on the first coat, but I added a second coat just to intensify the purple color.  I love me some holo!

Next I randomly added stripes of scotch tape and painted over with two coats of OPI Liquid Sand Can't Let Go from the new OPI Mariah Carey Collection.  I love polishes with texture....suede....leather....crackle....and now Liquid Sand from OPI, with PixieDust coming from Zoya in February.  The picture above is without any top coat so you can see the texture.  It was not fully dry when I took this pic so it still looks a little wet.  Pics of this finish are all over the web so Google it for a better look.  I wasn't sure I liked this look, so I topped it with one coat of Seche Vite.  I could have used two if I wanted a smooth finish, but I didn't.  Final pic with topcoat.

Not my favorite so far, but I got to wear two of my new polishes within a few days of getting them.  Woo hoo!  Now go check everyone else if you would like.

  1. It's beautiful! I just wish the "bottom" polish was shimmer-less, or matte even, then the contrast would just kill with awesomeness :))
